2004 The Vintage
The year 2004 was a solid growing season for wine grapes, continuing Oregon’s recent string of excellent vintages. An early spring, followed by a summer of warm, dry weather led to an early harvest. With the intermittent rains during Crush we kept a “weather eye” peeled for advancing storm fronts and windows of opportunity for picking. Those windows of dry weather eventually materialized, allowing us to pick the grapes after they had developed a fully mature, complex flavor profile.
2004 Estate Bottled Riesling
As noted above, our grapes were picked at their most opportune moment in time. The fruit was whole-cluster pressed, settled for 24 hours, and racked into stainless steel tanks for fermentation and vinification. Upon completion of fermentation, the wine received a gentle fining and cold stabilization. It was bottled on June 21, 2005.
Our 2004 Vintage Select Pinot Gris presents a fruit-forward nose with aromas of pear and melon. This distinctly refreshing wine exhibits rich varietal character, with a finish that hints of tropical fruit. A natural complement to Northwest cuisine, take it along for your summer picnics. And---we’re going out on a limb here---y’all try it with Southern fried chicken.
